Hero dog in Typhoon Sendong Written by: Gail Villanueva

Every time a calamity strikes, a lot of lives are lost. But it is also a time where even the most unlikely people rise to the occasion and become heroes. Even rarer is when the hero is a dog.

Loloy and Jackie were one of the lucky dogs who were hailed as heroes and survived to be with their family. But Jennylou Yecyec’s canine hero was not. After saving Jennylou from drowning, the dog succumbed to exhaustion and was never seen again. (More about it on Pinoy Dog-Lover)

I hope we can spare a few minutes of our time to remember and pray for the lives lost when Sendong hit — lives of both humans and animals who were unfortunate not to have survived the calamity.
